That were great moments for our city and theatre. In the morning prof. Józef Szajna was honoured with doctor Honoris Causa title on the University of Rzeszów. In the evening he appeared in the Siemaszkowa’s Theatre. He arrived to us with a limousine under police escort, to show his magical influence and power on a stage. Audience watched short movie about Professor, a play-collage about his works and recital-surprise – Ewa Demarczyk’s songs sang by Anna Sroka. The evening was sweetened with enormous layer cake made for Professor by confectionery ‘Bulanda’.

This jubilee was organized at the same time as project ‘the Universal Space of Art – the Szajna Gallery’, donated by the Ministry of the Culture and National Heritage within a framework of the ‘Mecenat 2007’ program.

We extend our thanks to all those, who with joy and willingness helped us with organizing the Jubilee of Professor Szajna.

On 14 June 1007,on anniversary of deportation and transport of 728 first polish prisoners to concentration camp – Auschwitz, in Oświęcim on Ostatni Etap Street takes place putting the Coal Stone in the Mound of Remembrance and Reconciliation.

The Mound was put on former prisoner’s initiative and the author of this was Professor Szajna. He asked for putting a stone from Siemaszkowa’s Theatre among all stones, which makes the mound.

A theatre’s delegation will turn over a granite lump with engraved name of the institution on it to the president of Oświęcim (Mr Janusz Marszałek) during celebration. This is great honour and hope for us, that we can commemorate all victims of an extermination and it will be our small symbolic contribution in building the Civilization of Love.

On 6 June 2007 Professor Szajna will be honoured with prestigious title – Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Rzeszów.
At the same time at 5pm. in the Siemaszkowa’s Theatre will be a ceremony commemorating 85 birthday, 60 years of work and 10 years of the Szajna Gallery.

In the celebration’s program we will perform movie ’85.60.10’ dedicated to Józef Szajna person, a collage played by actors of the theatre and recital-surprise. We would invite all fans of Szajna’s works, a Man who was a promoter of Rzeszów and Poland in the world.

On 13March1997, in the time of commemoration 75th birthday and 50years of Józef Szajna’s creative work in the Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszów, the Szajna Gallery finally opens.
In Poland and all over the world this is an unique permanent exhibition of of the greatest artists of 20th century - Szajna. All works, which can be seen in the Gallery, are Professor’s donations to Rzeszów – his homecity.
The Szajna Gallery offers 54 works of art: monumental paintings, drawings, collages, special compositions and elements of Szajna’s the most remarkable theatre plays’ stage designs. From the beginning the Gallery is an artists’ meeting place: painters, writers, musicians, people of theatre. This spacious Gallery, filled with one of the most important theatre creator’s works, has unforgettable atmosphere and spirit. This is an ideal place for art and drawing classes.
Visiting the Szajna Gallery can be both individual and in the group in every term but after telephone booking.
INDIVIDUAL VISITS on Saturdays (16-19)
GROUP VISITS(over 10 people) after booking in the Customer Service (017 853 22 52). Visiting with movie projection is available.
The Gallery is also opened 30mins before every evening play on the Great Stage for those visitors, who have valid play’s ticket.
